about

imaginative drum 'n' bass with "A Man of Constant Sorrow" sung by Roscoe Holcomb in 1962.

True story: The original version by bluegrass songsmith, Dick Burnett, was a reflection of woe. Burnett had been as bluecollar as it gets - logging and mining - and he was robbed and shot. Adding injury to insult, he eventually became blind, and his only source of income was his music. So, he published a book of his works in 1913. I found these lyrics, along with Holcombe's touching delivery some 50 years later, to be so very relatable that I put my muscles to task and created something new and fluid.

We've crossed the threshold into a difficult new world in which personal pain continues to transpire amid the overarching fears of death, surveillance and singularity. Perhaps you can relate. At any rate, maybe you can find a way to support my decades-long efforts despite this track being offered at no cost but a few moments of your time.

Long live #dnb and all it strives to portray.

lyrics

I am a man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my day
I bid farewell to old Kentucky
The place where I was born and raised
For six long years I've been in trouble
No pleasures here on earth I found
For in this world I'm bound to ramble
I have no friends to help me now
It's fare thee well my own true lover
I never expect to see you again
For I'm bound to ride that northern railroad
Perhaps I'll die upon this train
Bury me in some deep valley
For many a years there I may lay
S'then you can learn to love another
While I am sleeping in my grave
S'maybe your friends thinks I'm a stranger
My face you never will see no more
S'but there is one promise that I'm giving
I'll meet you on God's golden shore

about

Fluidynamics Evergreen, Colorado

I chose the name "Fluidynamics" because I love 90 BPM, and I'm ecstatic at 130. I've played in clubs before and been asked, "What single was that?" so many times that I thought I'd better tell you - I don't buy records to play for you. I write and spin my own music as a proud member of BMI for over a decade. My DIY record label is Flip Fly Productions. ... more
